Gypsum
GYPSUM BENEFITS
- Increased crop yields
- Soil de-compaction (amelioration)
- Better moisture retention and utilization
- Decreases nitrate and phosphate runoff
- Blends easy with fertilizer and other nutrients (including VRT programs)
- Low-dust application
- Provides calcium and sulfur
- Calcium is relatively immobile, so a constant supply is needed for the plant. Low CEC soils makes uptake even harder.
- Sulfur is essential for protein production and the activity of enzymes, vitamins and chlorophyll formation. Sulfur also acts as a nitrogen stabilizer, reduces cold weather stress and defend against plant disease.
